Repairs to the War Memorial Clock to commence.
Following repeated interruptions to the electricity supply which affects the clock’s mechanism the Town Council recently approved expenditure to upgrade the mechanism which will mean that in future, the clock will not be affected by cuts in the electricity supply and will not stop. The mechanism is to be removed on 22 April and the clock will be out of action for a few weeks.
At the same time a local company has been engaged to install a new internal ladder in the memorial to address health & safety concerns.
The Town Council apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused during these works but hopes you will appreciate that they are required to safeguard the clock’s future as a prominent feature of the local townscape.
